What does Pear Deck Genie actually do?

It sits in the corner of the Pear student page and reads the question on your screen. Press Solve this question and the answer goes on the page: the choice picked, the number or text typed. You press Submit. On Full Automation it answers, submits and moves on by itself until the lesson, game or test is finished.

Which Pear apps and question types does it handle?

All three Pear student pages. Pear Deck: multiple choice, select all, number and text slides, in live and student-paced lessons. Pear Practice: choices, text and numbers, sorting, diagram pins and the team token board. Pear Assessment (formerly Edulastic): multiple choice, select all, highlighting, short answers, essays, math fields, dropdowns, matrices, graphs and picture labels.

Does it work in a lesson my teacher is leading?

Yes. It answers each slide as it appears. In a teacher-paced lesson your teacher moves the slides, so Full Automation cannot jump ahead; in a student-paced lesson it presses the next arrow itself.

Why did Pear Assessment show the answer without filling it in?

On Pear Assessment every answer is worked out a second way and only filled in when both agree. When they don't, the answer is held for you to look at instead of being filled. Press Solve again, or answer by hand.

Are pictures or my answers uploaded anywhere?

Graphs, tables and figures inside a question are read right in your browser; the picture is never uploaded. Polls, check-ins and "tell us about you" questions get an example for you to read over and are never submitted for you.

What can it not do yet?

Drawing and draggable slides (it tells you what to draw or drag) and audio recordings. A picture it cannot read on your computer is marked as a guess for you to check.

What does it cost?

Answers are free on any signed-in account: 25 questions a day across Pear Deck, Pear Practice and Pear Assessment, reset at midnight UTC, no card. Unlimited questions and Full Automation are the paid half. All paid tiers include exactly the same features; only the billing differs: $2.99 a week, or $4.99 a month with a 3-day free trial.
