Vocabulary.com Answers: How to Get Them in 2026
There is no Vocabulary.com answer key, and most of what gets passed around as one is either stale or a way to get noticed. This guide covers what the free methods actually do, how Vocab Genie answers the question on your screen, what the free plan includes, and what the risk honestly looks like.
Vocabulary.com builds every question from a bank of tens of thousands of sentences and adapts to each student, so no fixed answer key exists. Inspect-element tricks and pasted scripts stopped working or answer in a rhythm the Teacher Dashboard shows. Vocab Genie reads the question on your screen and picks the answer when you press Solve, free 25 times a day; Ultimate removes the cap and adds Full Automation.
- No two students see the same questions in the same order, so shared answer lists do not line up.
- Quizlet sets and PDFs give you definitions, not the sentence-based questions Vocabulary.com asks.
- Vocab Genie answers practice, assigned quizzes, VocabTrainer and the Spelling Bee with one press.
- Free: 25 questions a day on any account. Ultimate: unlimited, plus Full Automation with a Speed setting.
Why is there no Vocabulary.com answer key?
An answer key needs a fixed set of questions. Vocabulary.com does not have one. Each word in a list is tested through several question types (pick the definition, pick the word for a sentence, pick the synonym, spell it, fill in the blank), and the sentence in each question is drawn from a large bank of real usage examples. Two students on the same list get different sentences, in a different order, with the same word coming back at different times depending on what each of them got wrong.
That is also why the site is hard to game by memory. Miss a word and the adaptive engine brings it back later in a new form. Get it right and it waits longer before asking again. The sequence is personal, which is the whole design, and it means a screenshot of your friend’s round is only useful to your friend.
The one place a key half-exists is the word list itself. Every list is public, and the definitions are a click away. But the questions are not “what does X mean”; they are “which of these four words fits this sentence”, and knowing the definitions still leaves you reading each sentence.
What are the free ways to get Vocabulary.com answers, and why do they fail?
Most of these come up in every search. Here is what each one actually does in 2026.
- Inspect element. The oldest trick. Years ago the correct choice could be read in the page markup. It cannot now; the page receives the choices, and whether a pick is right comes back from the server after you answer.
- Quizlet sets and answer PDFs. These give you definitions for a list. They are a legitimate way to study, and a slow way to answer, because every question is a sentence to read and four choices to compare. They do nothing for the Spelling Bee.
- Pasted GitHub and Tampermonkey scripts. Some read the page and pick an option. They break when Vocabulary.com changes its page, nobody maintains them for long, and the ones that work answer the instant each question renders, which is exactly the rhythm the dashboard shows.
- Looking it up in another tab. Works, and is invisible to the site. It is also the slowest option on the list, and the Spelling Bee reads the word aloud, so there is nothing to paste.
- Asking a chatbot. Fine for one question. Copying thirty sentences in and out of a chat window is slower than reading them, and it cannot see an image or hear the Spelling Bee.
The pattern is consistent: the free methods either do not answer the question that is actually on screen, or they answer it in a way that is visible in the Teacher Dashboard.
How does Vocab Genie get the answer?
Vocab Genie is a Chrome extension that reads the question on your screen, works out the answer and enters it the way you would. There is nothing to paste and no page code to parse; it reads what is drawn in your browser, so it keeps working when Vocabulary.com changes its page.
Add Vocab Genie to Chrome and sign in
Install from the Chrome Web Store on Chrome, Edge or Brave. Sign in with your GenieCheats account; the free plan needs no card.
Open any Vocabulary.com activity
A list practice, an assigned quiz, VocabTrainer or the Spelling Bee. The Vocab Genie panel appears in the bottom-right corner of the page.
Press “Solve this question”
Genie reads the question and picks the right choice. Vocabulary.com then shows the word’s story and awards points as usual. On a quiz it picks the answer and you press Submit.
Spelling is typed
Spelling questions and the Spelling Bee are typed one key at a time with natural pauses. If a guess is not it, Genie tries again.
Wrong first pick? It fixes it
Vocabulary.com says “Try again!” the moment a pick is wrong. Genie reads that and picks the right one on the second try, so you are never stuck.
Free accounts get 25 questions a day, reset at midnight UTC, with every question type included. Vocabulary Jam is the one mode not yet supported.
Does it work on quizzes, VocabTrainer and the Spelling Bee?
Yes to all three, and the differences are worth knowing before you rely on it for a graded quiz.
Practice
Every list, every question type. Press Solve, read the word’s story if you want, move to the next question.
Assigned quizzes
Genie picks the answer; you press Submit. The score lands in the gradebook exactly as if you had chosen it, so read the detection guide before you post a perfect one.
VocabTrainer
Works like practice. The adaptive sequence is still yours; Genie just answers what is on screen.
Spelling Bee
The word is read aloud and Genie types it key by key. Misspell-and-retry is handled the way a person would do it.
Questions with a picture are read as a picture, so image-based practice is covered. Round summaries and achievement screens are stepped through on Full Automation; on the free plan you click past them yourself.
Two things to know before a graded quiz. First, Vocabulary.com awards points and keeps a record for quiz questions the same way it does for practice, so a quiz is not a separate, unwatched space. Second, the daily cap counts every question Genie answers, practice or quiz, so if you are saving the free 25 for an assigned quiz, do the practice by hand that day or start the quiz before the midnight UTC reset.
What does Ultimate add?
The free plan is the whole answering engine with a daily cap. Ultimate removes the cap and adds the hands-off mode.
- Unlimited questions. No 25-a-day limit, on Vocabulary.com and on all 14 Genies, since one plan covers every extension.
- Full Automation. Switch it on and Genie answers every question and moves on by itself, through round summaries and achievement screens, until you stop it.
- A Speed setting. Fast, Normal or Slow sets every wait and the typing speed. Slow is there because hours spent is a column on the Teacher Dashboard.
- Everything else in the bundle. Snip & Solve for anything on screen, Server Side Automation on DeltaMath and Membean, and every other Genie on its own platform.
Pricing is the same for every Genie: $2.99 a week, $4.99 a month with a 3-day free trial, $24.99 a semester or $39.99 a year. Every tier unlocks exactly the same features; only the billing changes. The pricing page has the full comparison.
Every method compared
| Method | Answers the question on screen? | Spelling Bee? | Speed | What the record shows |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Study the list first | No, you still answer | Yes, if you learned it | Slow | Yours, whatever it is |
| Quizlet set / PDF | No, definitions only | No | Slow | Normal pace, more misses |
| Inspect element | No longer | No | — | Nothing; it does not work |
| GitHub / Tampermonkey script | Sometimes, until the next page change | Rarely | Instant | Machine rhythm, no misses |
| Chatbot in another tab | One at a time, by copy and paste | No | Slow | Normal pace |
| Vocab Genie (free) | Yes, 25 a day | Yes, typed | You set it | Your pace; first-pick misses stay |
| Vocab Genie Ultimate | Yes, unlimited | Yes, typed | Fast / Normal / Slow | Depends on the Speed you choose |
What is the honest risk?
Vocabulary.com cannot see an extension and does not run a detector. What it has is a Teacher Dashboard with questions answered, words mastered, hours spent and points earned in four sortable columns, an activity chart by day, and a leaderboard that every student in the class can see. The detection guide walks through all of it with links to Vocabulary.com’s own help pages.
The practical version is short. Students get noticed for a leaderboard spike, a points total out of proportion to time spent, a perfect quiz from someone whose practice is full of trouble words, and for telling people. The first three are pacing decisions, and on Vocab Genie those decisions are yours: you press Solve, you press Submit on quizzes, and on Full Automation you choose the Speed. No tool can honestly promise it is undetectable; these controls decide what your record looks like.
Two things that are not pacing decisions: keep your Vocabulary.com login to yourself, and install from the Chrome Web Store, where the listing, the developer and the update history are public. Tools sold over Discord that want your password are the category every warning thread is about.
Vocabulary.com Answers FAQ
Is there a Vocabulary.com answer key? No. Vocabulary.com draws each question from a large bank of sentences and adapts the sequence to each student, so no two students get the same questions in the same order. Word lists and definitions are public, but the questions ask you to apply the word in a sentence.
What is the fastest way to get Vocabulary.com answers? A Chrome extension that reads the question on your screen. Vocab Genie picks the correct choice when you press Solve this question, types spelling answers, and covers practice, assigned quizzes, VocabTrainer and the Spelling Bee. Free accounts get 25 questions a day.
Does inspect element still show Vocabulary.com answers? No. The page receives the answer choices, and whether a pick is correct comes back from the server after you answer. The trick circulated years ago and has been closed since.
Can Vocab Genie do the Spelling Bee? Yes. The word is read aloud by Vocabulary.com and Vocab Genie types it one key at a time with natural pauses. If a guess is wrong it tries again, the way a person corrects a misspelling.
Is Vocab Genie free? Yes, on any signed-in account: 25 questions a day, reset at midnight UTC, every question type included, no card. Ultimate removes the cap and adds Full Automation with a Speed setting, from $2.99 a week or $4.99 a month with a 3-day trial.
Will Vocab Genie get me caught on Vocabulary.com? No tool can honestly promise it is undetectable. Vocabulary.com shows teachers questions answered, hours spent, points and a daily activity chart, so what gets noticed is speed and perfection. On Vocab Genie you set the pace, press Submit yourself on quizzes, and choose the Speed on Full Automation.
