The #1 MathXL Hack

PearsonGenie is a Chrome extension that puts the answer into Pearson’s own answer box on MathXL — homework, quizzes and Study Plan practice.
Turn on Full Automation and it runs the whole assignment.

  • One Click, One Answer

Press Solve this part and the box fills in.

  • Typed Like Pearson Wants

Fractions, roots and π through the real palette.

  • Every Answer Type

Choices, dropdowns, number lines, the graphing tool.

  • Full Automation

Answers, checks and moves on, hands off.

  1. Video · Press Solve this part
    01

    Press “Solve this part”

Open a homework, quiz or Study Plan practice in MathXL as usual. Genie reads the question on your screen and puts the answer into Pearson’s own box — the equation typed, the choice picked, the dropdown set. You press Check Answer.

    • 25 free a day
    • Resets midnight UTC
  2. Video · Graphs, dropdowns and every other answer box

Graphs, dropdowns and every other box

The equation editor is typed through the real palette, so a fraction goes in through the Fraction button and an interval gets the right bracket. Number lines, point plotting and the Interactive Graphing Tool — lines, parabolas, circles, shaded regions and the function tools with their stretch, shift and reflection values — are drawn the way the tool reads them.

    • Equation editor
    • Graphing tool
    • Multi-step items
  3. Video · Full Automation runs the assignment

    Full Automation runs the assignment

Switch it on and Genie answers each part, presses Check Answer, continues through information steps and moves to the next question by itself, down the question list to the end. When Pearson marks a part wrong it reads the hint and tries once more. Stop it any time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does PearsonGenie actually do?

It sits in the corner of the MathXL player and reads the question on your screen. Press Solve this part and the answer goes into Pearson’s own answer box: the equation typed into the editor, the choice picked, the dropdown set, the point plotted. You press Check Answer. On Full Automation it answers, checks and moves on by itself until the assignment is done.

Which MathXL question types does it handle?

The equation editor (fractions, exponents, roots, absolute value, intervals, sets, π and ∞), multiple choice including choices with a box inside them, select-all, dropdowns, number lines, point plotting, matrices, multi-step problems part by part, and the Interactive Graphing Tool — lines, parabolas, circles, shaded regions and the function tools with their stretch, shift and reflection values.

Why does it type through Pearson’s palette instead of pasting?

Pearson grades what the editor holds, not what it looks like. A fraction typed with the slash key is “not completely simplified”; the same fraction through the Fraction button is correct. Genie uses the same palette buttons you would, so a root is a root and an interval has the right bracket. It reads each formula from Pearson’s own spoken-text version, so nothing is guessed from a picture.

Does it work on MyLab Math, Mastering or other Pearson products?

PearsonGenie is built for Pearson MathXL — homework, quizzes, tests and Study Plan practice in the MathXL player, including MathXL for School. Other Pearson products are not supported.

What happens when Pearson marks an answer wrong?

It reads the hint Pearson gives and tries once more with that hint in front of it. On the free plan nothing is pressed for you: the answer goes in the box and you decide when to press Check Answer, so you always see what is about to go in.

What can it not do yet?

Video questions are left to you: they need the clip watched and there is nothing to type. Guided-visualization items that open an applet in a new tab cannot be read from the page, so they are skipped and marked for you.

What does it cost?

Answers are free on any signed-in account: 25 questions a day, reset at midnight UTC, no card. Unlimited questions and Full Automation are the paid half. All paid tiers include exactly the same features; only the billing differs: $2.99 a week, $4.99 a month with a 3-day free trial, $24.99 a semester or $39.99 a year.

Does my plan cover the other Genies as well?

Every paid plan covers all 15 Genies: MemGenie on Membean, Delta Genie on DeltaMath, IXL Genie on IXL, NoRedInk Genie, EdGenie on Edpuzzle, Nearpod Genie, Quizlet Genie on Quizlet Live, BlookGenie on Blooket, Gimkit Genie, Wayground Genie, Vocab Genie on Vocabulary.com, Socrative Genie, FormsGenie on Google Forms, PearsonGenie and PearsonGenie on Pearson MathXL.
